Kylie Courter the webmaster of Tejano-Connect

 

Here is a little bit about me...I live here in Toledo, Ohio.... I am a 2004 Graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I made this site in 2005 to share the many pictures I have taken at the concerts I have attented. I started out with a simple disposible camera & progressed to my Digitial SLR Nikon D40. I love taking pictures, and I almost always have my camera with me. I try to go to all the big events & in the past years I have been able to attend the Tejano Convention in Las Vegas, the Tejano Music Awards, Tejano Fan Fair, and the Tejano Academy Awards. I hope to go to more events in the near future.

I love Tejano & Conjunto music. I like many other types of music, but Tejano music & the culture is my passion. This is not the only web site I currently maintain. I also run the Sunny Sauceda Official Web Site & Myspace.

I am hoping on day to have a career in the music business. I would really like to learn more about the management & publicity aspects of the business.

Most popular question I get asked all the time is "how did you, a white girl, get into listening to Tejano/Conjunto music?"

It all started in 1995/1996 when I first heard of a beautiful young woman who was carelessly murdered by her fan club president, Selena Quintanilla Perez... I fell in love with her English music, and I wanted more, so a friend made me buy one of her Spanish albums, and I fell in love with it....

It all progressed from there.... I started with Selena then moved into Jennifer Pena, Kumbia Kings..... Then I got hooked on Grupo LIMITE and Alicia Villarreal!! (LIMITE will ALWAYS be my Favorite band) and now I am really getting into Conjunto music, like the Mexican Roots Band (Joel Guzman, Sarah Fox, & Max Baca), Invicto, Jaime y Los Chamacos, Steve Jordan, Tony de La Rosa, and others.... I also love listening to some good tejano... my favs include Ram, Shelly Lares, Stefani Montiel, Elida Reyna, Eddie Gonzalez, Sunny Sauceda......

I LOVE music, I hope to some day work in the music industry, in promotions, marketing, or publicity...... I would love to work in a field which I LOVE...... I want to be able to work with something that I can put my heart and soul into, and I truely feel that promoting the music that I love, is where I need to be...
